What Should I do if my Table Lamp Tube has Turned Black?
New lamps don't turn black. After a while, when the lamp is lit, the filaments at both ends of the tube will sublime due to the heat. Then, they recondense on the cool tube wall, causing the phosphor on the inner wall to fall off, causing the blackening.
As table lamp tubes age, the blackening becomes more noticeable, and the filament wear increases. In this case, turning the lamp 180° before reinstalling it can improve its luminous efficiency and extend its lifespan.
